Early Bird Vol. 1 Progress Tease - May 2025: Backer Surveys Going Out Early June!

We're right up on approaching the mid-way point of this year, and Pride Month is only a few days away! The corporate angle for Pride is no doubt going to be a lot quieter and more muted this year, especially for companies and PR from within the United States, but I encourage folks to only be louder and more visible than usual to make up for it.

As for Early Bird, Federica and I are currently wrapping up the core material for Vol. 1, including its final moments, and sprucing up some more minor visual elements and lettering presentation throughout the story.

The major announcement in this month's update is that Backer surveys will be going out early next month. If you've pledged to receive a physical, shipped reward, the backer survey is crucial, so please do not neglect it! All backers receiving a physical reward will confirm their shipping address (this can be changed to any time until the orders are fully "locked in," and you'll receive notice before this happens) and which cover they'd like for the printed book. If you're in the VIP or Recipe tiers, you'll also be able to submit your credited name or your dish and recipe you'd like included in the book. I'll create another, separate Kickstarter update later to emphasize this all again, but please read the questions in your Backer survey very thoroughly before answering. 

The BackerKit survey also offers the option to add on extra sets of enamel pins or extra copies of the book if you'd like, and these extras will not incur any additional shipping charges. That said, if you're fully satisfied with your rewards as they are, be sure to not add anything to your "cart" when doing the survey.

Progress Tease for February, 2025 Pushed to Next Week

Hey all! I'm sorry I didn't get a post out earlier this week for February's Progress Tease. The final-act-of-the-story degree of drama and interactions made it harder to carve out specific portions that were satisfying to show off, while also not revealing or spoiling anything specifically. The upcoming slate of pages to be finished next week (March 2nd through March 8th) will be material more appropriate to share, so consider that to be the "Progress Tease" update suited for last month. A more genuine update for March will also still be posted at the end of this month, so there won't be any true lapse in the number of Progress Teases.

To offer at least something tangible with this update, I do have one crop from a panel that I was particularly tickled by. Satoru and Hector are both more incidental background elements in this shot, but I really appreciated how cute their simplified expressions and style ended up looking even though they're not the focal points of the panel at all.
